Who wants more patients for their dietitian practice?
Then you’re certainly reading the right article. Today, we’re going to talk about simple yet effective strategies that you can start using today.
Let’s go directly to the tactics:
1. Start Your Own Nutrition Blog
Create a blog and write about subjects of interest for your patients.
An article should have a compelling title that describes the subject, an intro and the body of the article. Quality images (ideally made by yourself) and videos are always a good choice.
2. Be Active on Social Media
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn… and the list can go on.
Simply choose one channel and own it. Post constantly. Create a posting calendar and stick to it. Be consistent.
It is a really good idea to promote articles from your blog. Try to share the content written by others too. Just think what would you like to read if you were in your client’s shoes.
3. Create Content for YouTube
Did you know that YouTube is the 2nd most visited site online?
Youtube is a huge channel that attracts a lot of visitors. Create video content with you talking about nutrition. Star talking about trends, your meal plans, diets, help people to choose the food that’s right for them.
When you’re down with your content, share them on Facebook and Instagram. Just keep them short and interactive.
Use your smartphone and find a quiet room. You can start doing videos right away, you don’t need expensive gear.
4. Get Started with Search Engine Optimization
With SEO you get free organic traffic. It takes quite a lot of time and it is strongly related to content. Simply, the more content that you have the better it is to rank organically. The more time visitors spend on a page the higher it will appear in Google Search because Google believes that the page must be good since a lot of people interact with it.
Here are some basic SEO / Content tips you can use
- create valuable content for people,
- make the article light and easy to read
- write longer articles (at least 600 words)
- include images in your content
- link to external websites with high domain authority
- No blackhat SEO please (you can Google this)
5. Promote Yourself To Corporate Clients
You can use LinkedIn to find HR heads. Try to connect and see if you can offer a free workshop about nutrition. In most cases, your attendees may eventually become clients.
Be honest as It is much easier to win someone’s trust if they don’t feel that you try to sell them something.
6. Try to organize local talks for Nutrition
There are so many places you can give short talks on. A local bookstore, your local library or you can share how to eat healthy at your children’s school. They might not have problems but they have parents.
7. Be Seen and Speak at Nutrition Conferences
It is all about being seen as a professional. If you have topics that you’d want to share about, this is the place.
Just don’t forget your business cards when you go there and put your name, website and social media links in your presentation.
8. Go for Billboards and Ads
Okay. Try this one if you have a large budget to spend on. Billboards are pretty expensive but are still useful.
9. Write Guest Posts on Established Websites.
This is useful even if you have a blog – you will get links to your website but especially if you don’t have one. You will use the audience that you didn’t create. Having journalists as friends is always good. Be there when they need an expert opinion.
10. Participate in Forums and Online Groups
Forums, Facebook groups, forums are places where people come for information and to interact with other people. Try to share and help people without asking anything in exchange. Just share and care.
One more tip…
Ask for Referrals (But nicely, please)
The best future clients are the ones that are referred by past happy clients because they are the living proof that your methods are working.
Ask your happy patients to recommend you to other people. It might sound a little bit awkward but remember, they are happy with the result and a question won’t hurt anyone. In the worst scenario, you will get a “no” (but you already have it if you don’t ask).
You can simply start with one or try all of these simply customer acquisition tactics. One has to be visible and be seen as a genuine and caring dietitian to potential clients.
